” I became involved with a family of six in 2018, initially helping them settle in their new home and attend numerous medical appointments.
I have found it so gratifying to witness the family members increase their knowledge and skills and become increasingly resilient and independent. Over the past 3 years, they have learned how to navigate the education, banking, health, and transportation systems, drive, become increasingly fluent in English and find employment.
I have enjoyed being able to help the family problem solve and troubleshoot. Interactions usually result in immediate and tangible results –so practical compared to what I do for a living! And the rewards are enormous smiles, laughter and frequent words of appreciation.”
