OCRA’s funding consists of donations and money raised through community events. In 2018, we also received a grant of $20,400 from the Global Refugee Sponsorship Initiative.
100 percent of the money we receive is used for sponsorship, settlement and support of refugees.
Income support is paid directly to refugee families for 12 months after arrival in Canada. New arrivals also receive a lump sum payment to defray the cost of setting up a new household.
OCRA’s work is done entirely by volunteers.
All administration expenses incurred in carrying out OCRA’s work are paid by our volunteers without reimbursement.
Funds are held by First United Church Ottawa and the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa. All payments to refugee families are made by the Church.
We do not file sponsorship applications unless the settlement cost is fully funded by donations and firm pledges.
