Putting Community Support for Refugees into Action

OCRA’s experience has shown that there is a deep reservoir of support in our community for helping refugees. We also know that the size and complexity of the global refugee problem leads some people to feel that the actions of a single individual are futile.

The refugee situation in many parts of the world is undeniably a big problem. We believe it is also a big opportunity for individuals to make an immediate life-changing impact on the lives of people who, through no fault of their own, have been displaced by war and persecution.

We rely entirely on individual donors to fund settlement costs and we rely entirely on volunteers from the community to carry out settlement plans and assist the families we sponsor.

We are under no illusion that the work OCRA does will address the world’s refugee crisis. But we also know from experience that the actions of individuals can make a dramatic difference in the lives of people who are caught in that crisis.
