The Rewards of Volunteering

Volunteering is a two-way street.

From volunteers, newcomers get invaluable assistance in learning to navigate their way in a new country and culture.

And volunteers consistently tell us that they are richly rewarded in return through the experience of working with refugee families.

Beyond the satisfaction of making a positive impact on the wellbeing of people who have lived through very difficult conditions, volunteers also find fun and fulfillment in bridging cultures, working with other volunteers, making new friends and “giving back” to the community.

Many of our volunteers have made enduring friendships with newcomers who they helped settle.

We recognize that not everyone has the same time, energy, experience or skills.   We try to ask our volunteers to take on tasks where they can have confidence in being successful and effective.
